The Georgetown Federalist was founded in January of 2006 to provide the Georgetown community with a libertarian perspective on campus events and news. We seek to provide a forum for students to express freely views not found in any other campus publication and to facilitate meaningful debate and dialogue on issues affecting both Georgetown University and the community at large.
Fundamentally, we believe that the ideals which guided the founding of the United States, including the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution and the Federalist Papers provide a critical framework for structuring a society and governing a people. In the spirit of these documents and ideas which helped found our nation, the Federalist strives to provide news and commentary in the spirit of liberty and informed citizenship.
The Federalist is also an incorporated 501(c)(3) organization, so we do not rely on the University for funding. This has enabled us to maintain an independent perspective and serve the Georgetown community by presenting one set of opinions that fosters critical thinking regarding social, political and economic issues.
